Sweden’s capital, Stockholm, witnessed large demonstrations coinciding with the Nobel Banquet, which is held after the Nobel Prizes are awarded to the winners. Protesters expressed their rejection of the ongoing Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip for more than two years.

Participants carried signs reading: “Israel, get out of Palestine,” “End the occupation,” and “No Nobel celebration while civilians are being killed.”

The demonstrations came in objection to awarding the Nobel Peace Prize to Venezuelan opposition politician María Corina Machado, whom protesters accused of supporting the “Israeli occupation” in its operations in Gaza.
