The Government Media Office in Gaza reported that the recent storm "Byron" resulted in the martyrdom of 11 Palestinians and the disappearance of one person due to multiple building collapses, with initial direct losses estimated at $4 million.

This was announced during a press conference held by the Director General of the Government Media Office, Ismail Al-Thawabteh, in Deir Al-Balah, central Gaza. He highlighted the depth of the ongoing humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip, worsened by Israel’s genocide and exposed further by the recent storm.

Al-Thawabteh stated that the tent sector was the most affected, with 53,000 tents damaged or flooded, either partially or completely. The storm also caused the destruction of plastic covers and tarps, in addition to essential items stored inside the tents.
