A high-level source revealed to Al-Araby Al-Jadeed newspaper that the Rafah Crossing will officially open to passenger movement in both directions at the beginning of next week, after resolving some outstanding details related to the method of access to the crossing from the Palestinian side, as well as departure and return passenger lists.

The source indicated that the first group of returnees to the Gaza Strip will include wounded individuals who received medical treatment in Egypt along with their families, estimated at around 150 families. He added that return trips will be organized collectively through the coordination mechanism announced by the Palestinian Embassy in Cairo to register those wishing to return.

Rafah Crossing is considered the only outlet for the entry and exit of Gaza’s residents, who number more than two million. According to statistics from the Government Media Office, 22,000 patients and wounded individuals are currently unable to travel, including 5,200 children. Meanwhile, 17,000 people have completed medical referral procedures and are awaiting the opening of the crossing.
