Israel Hayom newspaper revealed that PM Benjamin Netanyahu had received an official invitation from the Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi to visit Cairo. This visit is the first of its kind for over a decade; the newspaper predicts the visit to take place the coming few days. The two parties will address the reinforcement of political and security relations against the Iranian threat, and coordination between Tel Aviv and Cairo before the elected American President Joe Biden assumes his position next month.
They will also address the possibility of resuming negotiations between the occupation and the Palestinians, and maintaining calm in the Gaza Strip. The newspaper claimed that the Egyptian regime is concerned about Biden’s administration being hostile against Cairo, and how a new nuclear deal with Iran could lead to regional instability. Egypt sees regional alliance between the occupation and Arab countries as important to support the normalization agreements. A high-profile official in the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Netanyahu will be received in Egypt following official ceremonial procedures with Al-Sisi meeting him at the airport.
