The Israeli Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper revealed a serious security gap inside a military location near the borders with the Gaza Strip.
Its reporter had entered one of the military locations responsible for the ‘protection’ of the construction of the wall surrounding the Strip and found no soldiers there.
The reporter found sensitive military equipment and valuable information. The newspaper said that its crew had entered the location twice the past weeks without drawing any suspicion or alarming any military units.
The crew found a technological device that the army uses to locate the places where rockets drop hanged on one of the doors of the military barracks.
They found unused instructions on how to evacuate locations and diversion units. They also found a box with M-16 ammunition.
The most dangerous item they had found was a secret file about the occupation’s missions in the Gaza Strip and the shooting scenarios’ instructions. It also provided information on how to act in times of breach or hostage situations.
In addition, the crew found information on the nearby airstrips, the SWAT units and how to run battles among other sensitive information.
The army’s spokesman commented on the incident and said that the problem was solved and an investigation had started.
He said that the forces are being deployed in the locations around the Strip based on operational plans. The unit that was in the location had moved to another location, but the moving did not go as it should have.
