UN Urges Occupation to Stop Palestinians' Displacement from Al-Quds

Jul 02, 2021 04:15 pm

Under-Secretary General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs Rosemary DiCarlo said during the international conference on the “Forced demographic change in Jerusalem – grave breaches and a threat to peace” that the Israeli occupation needs to respect the status quo in the occupied city of Al-Quds, and stop the settlement project and other violations against the Palestinians.

The Conference focused on the occupation's continuous practices to change the demography of Al-Quds, focusing on the displacement of the Palestinians from their homes and the homes' demolition.

Several UN states' representatives and other human rights NGOs participated in the Conference.

DiCarlo encouraged the Israelis and Palestinians to resume the two-state solution negotiations with support from the Quadrat Committee of the Middle East (the USA, EU, UN and Russia).

This session took place after the occupation forces had broken into Silwan neighborhood in Al-Quds and demolished a shop and declared their intention to demolish 100 Palestinian homes under the pretext of not having a permit.
