Since about a week from the Israeli-American announcement of the American plan to terminate the Palestinian cause, the Palestinian landscape has experienced tension as it awaits to see what happens next. In response to the announcement, the Palestinians in the West Bank held demonstrations protesting against the Plan which led to confrontations with the Israeli occupation’s army. In Gaza, they increased the number of burning balloons fired at the occupied lands. As for the Israeli occupation’s army, it announced several times an increase in the indications of a coming confrontation with the Palestinian people. What is next then?     

Gaza and the West Bank

The people of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip are enraged by the Plan, which will increase the sufferings of the Palestinians; and by the increasing normalization between Arabs, Sudan most recently, and the occupation. The reality shows Arabs queuing up to curry favor with the Israeli occupation, and the Palestinian official position weakening which will make the USA and the occupation more determined to implement the Plan. As a result, the crisis will worsen as the Palestinians have nothing to lose in a time when the siege is suffocating them and the security measures in the West Bank are crude.

We have noticed several youngsters attempting to fight past the security measures in the West Bank. Some have tried to execute stabbing operations against the settlers, and others clashed with the occupation’s army in different cities.

The people in Gaza, too, continue to fire burning balloons and rockets at the occupied lands; Hamas is either the one ordering it or turning a blind eye to it.

The resistance, Al-Qassam Brigades in the lead, did not announce the measures it will take to face this project, which directly targets it as it calls for disarming the resistance. Practically, however, it is still building its capacities and firing test rockets until this day. This is a clear message to the occupation, especially that it is from Al-Qassam Brigades. This resulted in the Israeli army increasing the batteries of the Iron Dome in the surrounding settlements of the Strip.

Scenario of the Assault

Analyzing the above-mentioned, the current talks of the Israeli media on Naftali Bennett’s plan for a huge military operation in the near future on the Gaza Strip, and their decision to put the Plan on the political and security agenda soon confirm what we have said earlier. The occupation will provoke conflagration to force the Palestinians to accept the Plan and end the resistance in the Gaza Strip. Terminating the resistance is key to restore security according to the Israeli army which has been under a lot of pressure by the settlers. Because it failed, the army is no longer perceived the same.

The continuous Israeli bombardment of Gaza is happening gradually to lead to a complete confrontation which may start with the assassination of a key resistance figure in order to stop the resistance from firing rockets. This will be the spark that triggers the situation. Nevertheless, the coming confrontation will be entirely different from its precedents.
