Today, Monday, April 24, 2023, the Rawasi of Palestine Foundation opened the national exhibition “We Breathe Freedom” for Palestinian prisoners. The exhibition was held in collaboration with several institutions in Gaza dedicated to prisoner affairs, as well as the PALM Strategic Initiative Center, which funded the event.
The exhibition includes photographs of Palestinian prisoners, as well as many creative sculptures made by prisoners to reflect their misery inside Israeli occupation prisons. Moreover, these handmade crafts embody their resilience in the face of repressive conditions. The exhibition also included a section for prisoners' literary works, as well as paintings by a number of Palestinian artists that portray the torture of the occupation prisons' administration for them and solitary confinement. Not only this, but handwritten letters as well for a number of prisoners in various prisons were a part of this exhibition. The exhibition also included a secret corner in which a video clip, shot within the prisons and leaked to the outside, was played. Notably, the video discussed the intricacies of the prisoners' lives behind the jails.
Representatives of the Prisoners Committee for the National and Islamic Forces, and institutions working for the prisoners' affairs, attended the exhibition. In addition to numerous released prisoners, activists, and Juridical persons.
According to a statement during the exhibition that will last for six days, the Palestinian Prisoners Movement stated that this unique exhibition gathers in its corners the dimensions of the issue of all prisoners. These dimensions manifested themselves in: their pain, lives, achievements, and aspirations. Furthermore, it is tangible proof of the actual existence of the Palestinian prisoners languishing behind the Israeli jails. It also confirms that the prisoners' liberation is a primary priority.
Eventually, this is the first exhibition of its type, bringing together the Palestinian national community and presenting all aspects of prisoners' lives in a unique and outstanding way
