90% of the prisoners who are currently in administrative detention are released prisoners, according to researcher Riyad Al-Ashqar, director of the Palestine Center for Prisoner Studies.
Al-Ashqar stated that there are currently about 1,200 administrative prisoners in the occupation prisons, including 18 children and 3 female prisoners, and that this number is constantly rising. The occupation courts issue hundreds of administrative decisions, whether new or renewal of detention, and the majority of these administrative decisions have been renewed. At least twice, the regime re-arrested them, and it has also re-arrested hundreds of released prisoners.
Al-Ashqar continued, saying that the occupation intensified its targeting of the released prisoners in accordance with the directives of the right-wing administration to satisfy the Minister in the occupation government, "Itamar Ben Gvir", who explicitly made the pursuit of the released prisoners a priority of his government.
