Suspension of the Prisoners' Collective Strike

Aug 19, 2023 12:53 pm

The open collective hunger strike, which was started by 1000 detainees after demanding rights from the Israeli prisons' administration, has been suspended, according to the Palestinian Prisoners Movement.

The National Prisoners Movement's Supreme National Emergency Committee stated in a statement that it had started a collective strike in response to the Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gvir's targeting and assaulting of prisoners in the Negev Prison. It also stated that it had suspended the strike after obtaining satisfactory results for the prisoners, though it indicated its readiness to return to the strike in case the prisons' administration violates the agreement.
