The Israeli media has reported on a plan by Israel's Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben Gvir, to tighten restrictions on Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons.
According to Channel 12, Ben Gvir's plan includes several measures, such as reducing the duration of recreation time in the exercise yard, limiting the variety of products available in the canteen, specifying the number of TV channels in prisons, and not allowing prisoners to cook for themselves. In addition to that, reducing the amount of permissible meat, prohibiting meetings between Hamas and Fatah prisoners within sections, and eliminating the prisoners' representatives before the prison administration.
Earlier, Ben Gvir instructed the Israeli prison administration to limit family visits for West Bank Palestinian prisoners to once every two months instead of once a month, as reported by the Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper.
Ben Gvir's goal with these measures is to deliberately create overcrowding in the prisoners' rooms by increasing the number of prisoners within each room.
