According to the Palestine Center for Prisoner Studies, there are now 452 prisoners on the list of deans, with some of them beginning their 21st year in a row behind bars.

The center's director, Riyad Al-Ashqar, claimed that as a result of the presence of hundreds of prisoners for many years, particularly in the early years of the Al-Aqsa Intifada, who are serving life sentences or dozens of years in the occupation prisons, the number of detainees who spent more than 20 years continuously behind bars is increasing successively.

He brought up the fact that, in addition to Nael Barghouthi, who was released in the Wa'a al-Ahrar agreement after being imprisoned for 34 continuous years, and who was re-arrested in 2014 and is still being held, there were (19) prisoners whose detention period exceeded three decades. He remains incarcerated today, and the occupation reinstated his prior life sentence.
