On the eve of World Press Freedom Day (May 3), the Government Media Office in Gaza stated that journalists in Gaza are being “slaughtered live on air” by Israeli occupation forces.
According to the statement, 212 journalists have been killed since the start of Israel’s genocide in Gaza, while 409 others have been injured, some suffering permanent disabilities. In addition, 48 journalists have been detained, with several subjected to torture—clear violations of international law.
The office also reported that 143 media institutions have been targeted, including 12 print newspapers, 23 digital outlets, 11 radio stations, 4 satellite channels, and the headquarters of 12 Arab and international TV networks.
