The Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society announced the martyrdom of elderly detainee Mohammed Abu Habl (70 years old), a resident of the Gaza Strip, inside Israeli prisons on January 10, 2025.

The two organizations confirmed that the case of Gaza detainees has exposed the unprecedented atrocities committed by the Israeli occupation—chief among them torture, starvation, medical crimes, and sexual assaults—amid a complete absence of international and human rights oversight.

With the martyrdom of Abu Habl, the number of prisoners martyred since the start of the Israeli war has risen to at least 71, including 45 detainees from Gaza whose identities have been documented.
This brings the total number of martyrs from the Palestinian prisoner movement since 1967 to 308.
