Dozens of tents sheltering displaced families in the Al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis, in southern Gaza, were flooded this morning after heavy rainfall.
The Civil Defense stated that displaced people in Al-Mawasi, Khan Younis, and the outskirts of Rafah are flooding inside their worn-out tents due to the heavy rain and the ongoing low-pressure weather system, amid the absence of basic protection and a lack of resources available to Civil Defense teams, despite their efforts to assist them.
The Gaza Municipality noted that the rainwater drainage networks across the Strip are destroyed, causing sewage overflow. It added that sewage water and waste are sweeping into homes and shelter centers, calling for urgent international intervention to address the situation.
